A different Path-The red riding hood story

A New Path: The Day My Phone Saved Me. So, everyone knows my story. Girl in a red cape, basket of goodies, off to Grandma's house. But what they don't tell you is the real reason I got there safely. It wasn't because of a woodsman or some lucky break. It was because of my phone. Mom gave me a smartphone for my birthday. She said it was for emergencies, but I've been using it mostly for taking pictures of flowers and finding the best shortcuts. It's a game-changer. So, there I was, walking through the woods to Grandma's. Suddenly, a notification popped up on my screen: "Wolf Sighting: E-12." It was a real-time alert from the local forest service app! The little icon showed the wolf was right on my path, just up ahead. I'm not going to lie, I froze for a second. But then I quickly pulled up my map app. I saw a different trail, a longer one, that went completely around the area where the wolf was spotted. I put in the new route and started walking. A minute later, another alert came through. This time, a text from Grandma! It said: "Hey sweetie! Got an alert about a wolf on the main path. Just wanted to let you know to be extra careful! Can't wait for those goodies!" I texted her back right away: "On it, Grandma! Taking the long way around. Thanks for the heads-up! See you soon!" So, while the wolf was probably waiting on the main trail, planning his big "What a big eyes you have" speech, I was already way past him, taking selfies with squirrels and live-streaming my hike. When I finally got to Grandma's house, she was perfectly fine, and she had just finished making a cup of tea. We laughed when I told her how the wolf must be out there, still waiting for me. The old story is all about a girl needing to be saved. But in this new version, it's a story about a girl who uses her wits and a little bit of tech to outsmart the villain. The wolf? He ended up getting a very long, very boring day, and a bunch of photos of my journey went viral. It just goes to show sometimes the best tool for an adventure isn't an axe—it's a charged battery.
